The Apex SHIFT Center in Steamboat Springs is your local solution for safely disposing of specialty and hard-to-recycle materials. From batteries and electronics to light bulbs and household items, SHIFT gives residents a responsible way to keep hazardous and reusable materials out of the landfill. Our goal is simple: make it easy to protect the environment while giving valuable materials a second life.

HOW THE DROP-OFF WORKS

The Apex SHIFT Center provides year-round recycling for materials that can’t go in your curbside bin like electronics, batteries, light bulbs, and more.

Sort accepted items into proper categories

Bring sorted items to drop off at 2701 Downhill Dr during open hours

Pay by weight or item count at the time of drop off

Payment process (cash, per-item or per-lb, etc.)
NOTE: We are not accepting credit cards at this time.

All items are sorted by category. Electronics are refurbished when possible. Non-repairable items are dismantled and components are separated and responsibly recycled. No materials are shipped overseas for recycling. Other materials such as batteries and bulbs are processed through specialized recyclers.

Yes, we accept curbside recycling drop-off for a fee. For current pricing, please call our local team at (970) 879-6985.

All curbside recyclables are transported to the Public Recycling Drop-Off at EcoPark (Milner), where residents also have the option to bring their recycling free of charge.

No. Please do not leave materials outside the facility. 

Yes. Please keep broken bulbs separate from intact bulbs.
