The Steamboat Landfill is committed to providing efficient, responsible, and accessible waste management services for residents and businesses throughout the area. Our mission is to ensure safe disposal practices while supporting sustainability in our community. Whether you are managing household trash or commercial waste, we provide the facilities and guidance to help you dispose of materials properly.
Accepted Waste
We accept general municipal solid waste, which includes common household and commercial items that do not fall under special or hazardous waste categories. This makes our landfill a convenient option for routine disposal needs.
Items Not Accepted
To maintain safety and environmental compliance, certain items cannot be disposed of at the Steamboat Landfill. These include:
- Electronic goods containing a circuit board
- Tires
- Lead acid batteries
- Items containing freon
- Small engine machines
- Anything containing gas or oil
- Fluorescent light bulbs or tubes
- Aerosol cans
- TENORM (radioactive material)
Appointments and Special Waste
No appointment is necessary for dropping off general waste. However, asbestos disposal requires prior arrangements. If you are disposing of asbestos, please contact our compliance department before arrival to ensure all procedures are followed.
Recyclable Materials
Recycling is an important part of our sustainability efforts. At the Milner landfill, we accept the following recyclable materials in designated dumpster units:
- Plastics #1–#7
- Paper
- Glass
- Metals
Please note: recyclables are only permitted in dumpster units and there is no public access to the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). All recyclables must be clean to prevent contamination.
